"Next deposit day" is the next calendar day on which any household in that state is paid; your own day depends on your case. Subscribers of an affected state get a notification the day a change is detected. Full history in the feed.

How this works

Every state runs its own SNAP program (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly food stamps) under federal rules, and every state decides how to spread monthly deposits across the calendar so stores and the EBT system are not slammed on the 1st. Seven jurisdictions pay everyone on a single day; the rest stagger deposits over anywhere from three to twenty-eight days, tying each household's day to something that never changes: the last digit of the case number, the last digit of a Social Security number, the first letter of the last name, or a birth date.

USDA's Food and Nutrition Service collects every state's rule in one document, the Monthly SNAP Issuance Schedule for All States and Territories. Our build re-downloads that document every day, parses every state's rule from it automatically, and rebuilds these pages the moment anything changes; the change is listed above and pushed to subscribers of the affected state. The lookup above applies your state's rule in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere, and the digit or letter you enter is saved only on your device so the page remembers you.

Dates assume benefits post at the start of the scheduled day, which is how most EBT processors work, weekends included. Pennsylvania counts business days, New York City publishes its own calendar, and Illinois and Washington assign each case a day at approval; those pages explain the exception. If a deposit does not arrive, the late-deposit checklist walks through what to check and who to call, and the delays page tracks any statewide or federal disruption.

Benefit amounts on this site come from the FNS cost-of-living adjustment for FY 2027 (effective October 1, 2026), summarised on the allotments page and used by the benefit estimator. Phone numbers and agency links come from the FNS SNAP State Directory.
